Sharjah Ruler Highlights Education as Nation’s Core Strength

Sharjah: His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, reaffirmed the pivotal role of education in shaping the UAE’s future during a meeting with Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar, Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, at Al Badee Palace on Thursday.

Welcoming the minister and his delegation, Sheikh Dr Sultan praised the continuous efforts of national institutions working under the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research. He noted that these efforts are essential for preparing highly qualified national talents equipped with advanced knowledge and skills to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving world.

The Ruler of Sharjah emphasised that education stands as the cornerstone of every nation’s progress — not only through universities, schools, and structured programmes but also through an individual’s commitment to lifelong learning, reading, and personal development.

Highlighting the need for stable and well-designed educational frameworks, Sheikh Dr Sultan stated that a strong system ensures academic excellence and nurtures generations capable of advancing science, innovation, and national growth. He also encouraged the use of modern educational technologies while maintaining the integrity and quality of traditional learning and student–teacher engagement.

During the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Dr Sultan reviewed the ministry’s latest plans and initiatives aimed at enhancing university standards and aligning academic programmes with the UAE’s long-term vision for sustainable development.

Dr Abdulrahman Al Awar expressed his appreciation for the Ruler’s continued guidance and commitment to strengthening the country’s higher education and research ecosystem. He lauded the outstanding progress of Sharjah’s universities and academies, which stand as leading examples of educational excellence in the region.

The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Hajar Al Dhahli, Secretary-General of the Education, Human Development and Community Council; Dr Mansour bin Nassar, Chairman of the Legal Department of Sharjah; Dr Muhadditha Al Hashemi, Chairperson of Sharjah Education Academy; and members of the Executive Committee of the Sharjah Council for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
