In a recent update, Akasa Air has announced a significant enhancement to its "Pets on Akasa" policy, responding to customer feedback. Effective immediately, the weight limit for pets traveling in passenger cabins has been increased from 7 kg to 10 kg, including the weight of the pet carrier. This adjustment aims to better accommodate larger pets and provide greater comfort during air travel.
Since the introduction of the "Pets on Akasa" policy in November 2022, over 3,200 pets have traveled on Akasa Air, reflecting its popularity among pet owners. Acknowledging the importance of customer input, the airline has acted swiftly to implement this change, ensuring a more inclusive and convenient travel experience for passengers with pets.

Furthermore, Akasa Air has extended the validity of travel certificates for pets from three days to 15 days. This extension offers increased flexibility for travelers with short-term travel plans, as their pet's travel certificate will remain valid for a longer duration. However, passengers with travel durations exceeding 15 days will be required to obtain a new travel certificate for their pets.
In addition to these policy updates, passengers traveling with their furry companions on Akasa Air can now enjoy a range of complimentary value-added services. These include the option to pre-book window seats, priority baggage delivery, and priority boarding, enhancing the overall flying experience for both passengers and their pets.
To ensure the highest standards of care, safety, and comfort for traveling pets, Akasa Air has invested in extensive research and training across its customer care center, airports, and in-flight teams. Moreover, the airline has partnered with the Umeed for Animals Foundation to implement best practices in pet travel, underscoring its commitment to animal welfare.
Belson Coutinho, Co-Founder and Chief Marketing & Experience Officer at Akasa Air, expressed gratitude for the constructive feedback received from pet parents. He emphasized the airline's dedication to creating an inclusive and humane travel experience for all passengers, including their beloved pets.
The "Pets on Akasa" policy was introduced on November 1, 2022, enabling travelers to fly with their cats and dogs on domestic flights across 22 cities served by Akasa Air. Since its inception in August 2022, Akasa Air has flown over 8 million passengers and connects with 22 cities, including major destinations such as Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, among others.
