Akasa Air has taken another big step in expanding its international network by announcing daily direct flights from India to Abu Dhabi. On February 28, the airline revealed its new routes connecting Abu Dhabi with Bengaluru and Ahmedabad under a codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways. This move is expected to improve travel options between India and the UAE and strengthen ties between the two countries.
With the addition of these routes, Akasa Air now operates 21 weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and three major Indian cities: Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. The airline had already started daily flights between Mumbai and Abu Dhabi in July 2024.

As per the flight schedule, the first Bengaluru-Abu Dhabi flight will take off from Kempegowda International Airport at 10:00 AM IST on March 1. It is expected to land at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi at 12:35 PM AST. Similarly, the first flight from Ahmedabad will depart from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 10:45 PM IST on March 1, reaching Abu Dhabi at 1:00 AM AST on March 2.
Neelu Khatri, co-founder and Senior Vice President of International at Akasa Air, expressed excitement about this expansion. She said, "We are delighted to introduce these new international routes in partnership with Etihad Airways. The UAE is an important market, and this partnership will provide better travel options for passengers. It will also help boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between India and the UAE."
She further added, "With this launch, Akasa begins its international operations from Bengaluru while expanding its global reach from Ahmedabad. We look forward to welcoming passengers on board."
Akasa Air has grown rapidly since launching its first commercial flight on August 7, 2022. The airline began international operations on March 28, 2024, with non-stop flights from Mumbai to Doha. In just 19 months, it became the fastest Indian airline to start flying overseas. Currently, Akasa Air operates international flights to Doha, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Jeddah, and Kuwait. Since its inception, the airline has served over 13 million passengers and now connects 27 cities worldwide.
With this latest expansion, Akasa Air continues to strengthen its presence in the aviation industry, offering more travel options and enhancing connectivity between India and the Middle East.
