Air travel across India has become easier and more convenient as Air India Express has introduced new direct flights connecting Ahmedabad and Chandigarh to Bengaluru. This move is aimed at boosting connectivity for both business and leisure travellers visiting India’s Silicon Valley. In addition, the airline is preparing to launch a Bengaluru-Dehradun service, further improving domestic air travel options across the country.

New Direct Flights to Bengaluru

Air India Express officially began its first direct flights from Ahmedabad and Chandigarh to Bengaluru on Monday. These flights are a significant addition to Bengaluru’s aviation network, which continues to grow as the city becomes an increasingly important hub for commerce, education, and tourism.

The airline has highlighted that Bengaluru is its largest domestic hub, offering over 400 weekly flights to 34 destinations across India. This makes it easier for travellers from Ahmedabad and Chandigarh to reach not just Bengaluru but also other cities through one-stop connections.

For passengers flying from Ahmedabad, convenient connections via Bengaluru will allow travel to 26 domestic destinations and three international destinations. Similarly, travellers from Chandigarh will be able to reach 23 destinations across South Asia by connecting through Bengaluru.

Flight Frequency and Timings

Currently, the Ahmedabad-Bengaluru route operates once daily. However, from September 16, this route will increase to twice daily, giving passengers more options and flexibility. On the other hand, Chandigarh will be served by two daily direct flights to Bengaluru. This ensures passengers have both morning and evening options, catering to the needs of business travellers as well as tourists.

The first flight from Chandigarh was inaugurated by Aloke Singh, the Managing Director of Air India Express. In a celebratory gesture, he presented a commemorative boarding pass to the first passenger onboard. The inaugural flights used the airline’s new Boeing aircraft, VT-BXB, ensuring modern facilities and comfort.

Upcoming Bengaluru-Dehradun Service

Air India Express is also preparing to launch a new Bengaluru-Dehradun service starting September 15. This service will enhance connectivity between Bengaluru, a bustling metropolitan city in southern India, and Dehradun, the serene capital of Uttarakhand located in the Himalayan foothills. The introduction of this route is expected to benefit both business and leisure travellers, providing an easy link between the south and the northern parts of India.

Services and Passenger Experience

Air India Express emphasized that the new routes are part of its ongoing commitment to creating strong connections between state capitals and major metropolitan areas. The airline provides several options for passengers to enhance their travel experience.

One of these is the cabin-bag only “Xpress Lite” fare, which allows passengers to travel light while enjoying competitive fares. The airline also offers comfortable seating, hot meals onboard, and unique aircraft liveries under the “Tales of India” theme, which showcase India’s culture and heritage through aircraft designs.

According to the airline, this expansion aims to provide a distinctly Indian travel experience while ensuring efficiency, convenience, and affordability for travellers.

Benefits for Business and Leisure Travellers

The launch of these new routes offers multiple advantages for different types of travellers:

  • Business Travellers: With direct flights from Ahmedabad and Chandigarh to Bengaluru, professionals can save time and avoid lengthy travel via other connecting cities. The flexible flight timings allow easy planning for meetings, conferences, and business trips.

  • Leisure Travellers: Tourists can now explore India more comfortably. The Bengaluru-Dehradun route, for instance, opens up opportunities to experience the scenic beauty of Uttarakhand while travelling from southern India in a single flight.

  • Students and Educational Trips: Bengaluru, being a hub of educational institutions, sees many students travelling from across India. These new flights provide easy access for students and their families.

  • International Connectivity: Passengers flying from Ahmedabad and Chandigarh can also connect to international destinations via Bengaluru, enhancing India’s global connectivity.

Air India Express’ Commitment to Expanding Domestic Travel

Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, shared that the airline’s expansion into new routes reflects a broader vision to create meaningful connections between India’s major cities. By offering multiple domestic routes and efficient services, the airline aims to serve the diverse needs of India’s travellers.

Singh emphasized that these new routes are not just about reaching destinations—they are about creating a warm, Indian travel experience. With thoughtfully designed fares, onboard meals, and modern aircraft, the airline is working to make every journey memorable for its passengers.

A Step Towards Better Air Connectivity

India’s aviation network has been steadily growing, and these new services from Air India Express mark another important step in improving domestic air travel. Direct flights reduce travel time, eliminate long layovers, and make air travel more accessible to a larger number of people.

Bengaluru, being an IT and business hub, attracts travellers from all over India. Similarly, Dehradun is a popular tourist and educational destination. By linking these cities directly with Ahmedabad and Chandigarh, the airline is making travel easier, safer, and more enjoyable.

The launch of Air India Express’ new direct flights from Ahmedabad and Chandigarh to Bengaluru, along with the upcoming Bengaluru-Dehradun service, is a significant development for India’s aviation sector. It strengthens connectivity between major state capitals and important metropolitan areas, benefiting business travellers, tourists, and students alike.

With modern aircraft, thoughtful fares, and an emphasis on Indian hospitality, Air India Express is providing a travel experience that combines comfort, convenience, and cultural pride. These new services mark a major milestone in the airline’s expansion plans and are set to make air travel in India more efficient, accessible, and enjoyable for all.
