Abu Dhabi has once again positioned itself at the forefront of smart and autonomous technology with the inaugural Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week (ADAW) 2025. Over six days, the emirate welcomed more than 15,000 participants from across the globe, uniting policymakers, investors, innovators, and researchers to explore cutting-edge autonomous solutions for land, sea, and air.
The event featured four major segments: the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, DRIFTx, RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025, and the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL). Each showcased innovations designed to transform industries, enhance mobility, and accelerate the commercial deployment of autonomous systems.
At the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, 400 national and international leaders discussed frameworks for policy, safety, and regulation in autonomous technologies. Notable announcements included the integration of Tensor Auto’s Level 4 Robocars into Abu Dhabi’s transport network and the unveiling of the emirate’s first vertiport network for eVTOL operations. Strategic agreements were signed across autonomous logistics, smart ports, fleet automation, and advanced aerial mobility with global players including Archer Aviation, Aramex, and ADNOC.
DRIFTx, hosted at Yas Marina Circuit, brought the technologies to life with live demonstrations. Visitors experienced autonomous robotaxis, humanoid robots, eVTOLs, autonomous boats, and last-mile delivery solutions. Collaborative showcases with Uber and WeRide allowed attendees to ride in self-driving vehicles, while robotics innovations from K2 and MOTON highlighted Abu Dhabi’s applied research capabilities.
Meanwhile, RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025, hosted by Khalifa University, attracted over 700 participants across 166 teams from 22 countries. Competitions spanned humanoid soccer, disaster-response robots, autonomous rescue drones, and sustainable AI solutions, demonstrating the emirate’s growing role as a hub for AI and robotics talent.
The week culminated in the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, where six fully driverless race cars competed in a historic Grand Final. The AI-driven vehicles reached lap times nearly matching human performance, highlighting the safety and precision of autonomous systems under extreme conditions. Participating teams came from Germany, Italy, and the UAE, marking a landmark in autonomous motorsports.
ADAW 2025 illustrated Abu Dhabi’s commitment to turning ambitious technological visions into tangible, real-world solutions. With strategic partnerships, live trials, and cross-sector collaboration, the emirate is creating a sustainable ecosystem where autonomous technology is not just imagined, but actively shaping the future.
