Abu Dhabi Charts Path to Become World’s First AI-Driven Govt

Abu Dhabi is taking bold steps to transform itself into the world’s first fully AI-enabled government by 2027, reinforcing its position as a global hub for innovation and advanced technology. The Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Council, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recently reviewed the emirate’s digital strategy and key initiatives in the sector.

The council examined the Abu Dhabi Government Digital Strategy 2025–2027, focusing on harnessing artificial intelligence to improve public services, attract global talent, and boost investment opportunities. Discussions also highlighted the latest AI developments worldwide and explored projects aimed at embedding advanced technologies across government and society.

Significant attention was given to programmes that train government employees in AI applications, alongside community initiatives designed to raise public awareness about AI’s role in daily life. These efforts aim to ensure that citizens and businesses can actively participate in Abu Dhabi’s digital transformation journey.

The council further explored opportunities to integrate AI technologies into services that enhance quality of life, examining trends and investment potential in future-oriented sectors. Key national entities, including ADQ, ADNOC, DGE, and MBZUAI, shared updates on flagship projects driving research, innovation, and technological adoption in the emirate.

Since its launch in January 2024, the AI and Advanced Technology Council has focused on shaping policies that enable AI application, foster public-private collaboration, and attract international partnerships, positioning Abu Dhabi as a leading global destination for AI innovation.

With these strategic moves, Abu Dhabi is steadily setting the stage to become a pioneering example of an AI-first government, integrating technology, policy, and talent to meet the demands of the future.
