Yishun Fire Prompts Evacuation of 50 Residents

In the early hours of April 13, a fire erupted in a Housing Development Board (HDB) flat located in Yishun, Singapore, leading to the evacuation of approximately 50 residents. The incident raised significant alarm regarding residential safety and prompted a swift response from emergency responders.

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), the alert for the fire came in around 3 am, with the blaze occurring in a second-floor unit of Block 510B on Yishun Street 51. Remarkably, before firefighters arrived, courageous members of the public had managed to contain the fire using fire extinguishers and a hose reel.

As a precaution, authorities evacuated about 50 individuals from the building. Police and SCDF personnel worked to ensure the situation was fully under control, confirming that there was no ongoing danger.

One individual was transported to Singapore General Hospital for medical care, though details regarding their condition remain undisclosed.

Local MP Lee Hui Ying commended the residents for their heroism, particularly highlighting the actions of Furzan and Razmi, who, alongside Razmi's brother, helped rescue a person from the fire-affected unit.

In expressing gratitude, authorities acknowledged the prompt response of community members, which played a crucial role in averting a larger crisis. The SCDF plans to honor those who contributed to these public-spirited actions.

Investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway, with officials examining the circumstances surrounding this alarming incident.
