Luxury fashion brand Vivienne Westwood held its first-ever fashion show in India on April 1. The event took place at the famous Gateway of India in Mumbai, creating a beautiful and grand backdrop for the special occasion. The red carpet was full of well-known celebrities, but the biggest surprise of the night was Radhika Merchant’s unique outfit. She wore a mix of Indian and Western fashion, pairing a saree with a classic Vivienne Westwood corset from 1990.

Radhika Merchant’s Stunning Look

Radhika, the younger daughter-in-law of the Ambani family, looked breathtaking in her outfit. She chose an elegant silk corset from Vivienne Westwood’s vintage collection. The ivory-white corset featured a famous painting of "Daphnis and Chloe" by French artist François Boucher. It had a sleeveless design, a sweetheart neckline, and an asymmetrical hem, adding a modern touch to the classic piece.

To complement the corset, Radhika wore a specially designed silk saree. The saree had Renaissance-style paintings and a beautiful golden border, making it a perfect blend of art and fashion. She draped the saree in a stylish way, holding the pallu in one hand while adding a long, flowing effect to her look.

How Radhika Accessorized Her Look

Celebrity stylist Rhea Kapoor put together Radhika’s elegant look. Keeping it minimal yet classy, Radhika wore a white choker necklace with a sparkling stone in the center. She paired it with diamond-studded earrings and a black beaded bracelet on one hand.

For her hairstyle, she went with a neat and slightly messy bun with a middle parting. Her makeup was soft and natural. She wore nude eyeshadow, black eyeliner, and mascara on her lashes. Light contouring on her cheeks and soft pink lipstick completed her look, allowing her outfit to be the main focus.

Vivienne Westwood’s First India Show

On March 31, Vivienne Westwood’s official Instagram page shared a glimpse of their first fashion show in India. The post described the event as a celebration of India’s rich tradition of handcrafted textiles.

The show featured looks from Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection along with some special designs from the brand’s archives. The highlight of the event was a unique collection of couture outfits made from India’s finest handwoven Chanderi silks, Khadi cotton, wool, and silk fabrics. Khadi, famously revived by Mahatma Gandhi, represents freedom in India and was an important part of this collection.

Vivienne Westwood’s first show in India brought together luxury fashion and traditional Indian craftsmanship, making it a truly memorable event.
