Dubai RTA Opens Sensory Rooms for Children with Autism Care

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has launched a groundbreaking initiative by introducing specially designed sensory rooms at the Al Satwa Bus Station and Oud Metha Bus Station. The project aims to enhance the mobility experience of People of Determination, with a particular focus on children with autism.

The initiative aligns with RTA’s strategic vision of improving customer happiness by offering inclusive, specialised services that cater to all community segments. It also reflects the authority’s ongoing efforts to strengthen innovation-driven public services while optimising the use of transport infrastructure across Dubai.

Inclusive and Comfort-Focused Facilities

Designed as calming and adaptive environments, the sensory rooms provide a balanced combination of relaxation and stimulation tailored to the needs of children with autism. These spaces include smart low-level lighting systems that create a soothing atmosphere, along with interactive features such as therapeutic swings for physical comfort.

To further enhance sensory regulation, the rooms also feature audio-visual elements including soft music, natural scenic displays, and colourful visual effects that help reduce stress and improve emotional well-being.

Support for Inclusive Mobility in Dubai

This initiative supports the broader vision of Dubai to build a fully inclusive and accessible city for all residents and visitors.
