Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been booked in Udaipur after a complaint was filed against him over an alleged fraud linked to a film production agreement. The case is registered at Bhupalpura police station and is under investigation.
Authorities stated that the complaint was submitted by Dr Ajay Murdia, who claimed he had signed an agreement with Bhatt’s production company to create movies and documentaries in memory of his late wife. He alleged that he paid the agreed amount for four films, but only two were completed, and even those did not feature proper attribution. The project with the largest budget was reportedly never started.
Investigators are examining documents and the contract terms before deciding further action.
Vikram Bhatt has strongly denied the allegations, saying that misleading information has been provided to the police. He questioned how such claims could stand without valid documents. Bhatt also pointed out that the complainant continued working with him on multiple films, which contradicts the accusation of deception. He added that he has emails and contracts to support his statements.
The dispute comes shortly after the release of Tumko Meri Kasam, the most recent film produced by Dr Murdia. Bhatt, who began his career assisting Mukul Anand, is known for films such as Ghulam, Raaz, and the 1920 series.
The investigation is ongoing.
