The UAE is rapidly emerging as a global hub for smart sports innovation, driven by the growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across training, management, and competition. From elite cycling teams to motorsports and para-sports, AI is redefining how athletes, coaches, and institutions operate.
Sports organisations worldwide are leveraging AI to enhance performance, prevent injuries, manage training loads, and refine in-game tactics. In the UAE, this shift is accelerating as part of the nation’s broader digital transformation strategy, positioning the country at the forefront of the intelligent sports movement.
The Ministry of Sports recently unveiled Sportifai, a comprehensive digital platform offering AI-powered tools for sports federations, clubs, and athletes. The initiative not only streamlines operations but also delivers actionable insights to improve training outcomes and competitive strategies.
UAE Team ADQ, a trailblazer in women’s professional cycling, has partnered with Analog to introduce advanced AI, edge computing, and mixed reality solutions into team management. This move equips athletes with cutting-edge performance analytics and decision-making tools, setting new benchmarks in competitive cycling.
In motorsports, AI-driven solutions by UAE company G42 are being deployed in Formula 1, providing real-time data analytics to optimise vehicle performance and race strategies. Meanwhile, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), in collaboration with UAE-based organisations, is integrating AI into para-sports medical classification systems to enhance fairness and competition standards.
Experts highlight that the UAE’s robust digital infrastructure, combined with innovative AI applications in coaching, talent discovery, refereeing, and tournament management, positions the country as a regional model for smart sports transformation. Innovation labs and research platforms are being developed to shape the next generation of intelligent sports solutions.
As the global sports AI market is projected to surge from US$2.4 billion in 2024 to over US$30 billion by 2033, the UAE’s commitment to embracing technology ensures it remains a leader in shaping the future of competitive and inclusive sports.
