UAE Launches First Finfluencer License for Online Advisors

The Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) in the UAE has taken a big step by launching the region’s first “Finfluencer” licence. This is a new kind of permit created to keep a close check on people who share financial advice online. Waleed Saeed Al Awadhi, who is the CEO of the SCA, said that this licence is not just about rules. He said that the SCA wants to raise the standards of how money and markets are handled, build trust, and make sure that the financial environment in the UAE is safe and strong.

To support this new system, the SCA has also decided to remove all fees related to signing up, renewing the licence, or getting legal advice—for the next three years. This is to make it easier for people to apply and to encourage more honest and helpful financial content online.

Anyone who shares advice about investing in stocks, funds, or virtual assets in the UAE—whether through videos, blogs, social media, or public events—will need to apply for this licence. These people are called "Finfluencers." They must register with the SCA and follow all the rules to make sure they are helping, not harming, people who follow their advice.

A Finfluencer is someone who is allowed by the SCA to talk about the buying, selling, or holding of financial products. They can also give opinions about the value of a product, what might happen in the future, or suggest financial services. They can do this through written posts, videos, podcasts, talks at events, or any kind of online or offline content.
