Thamma Box Office Day 15: Rashmika-Ayushmann Film Struggles

Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma, the latest entrant in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, is struggling to maintain its box office momentum after 15 days of release. The film has amassed a domestic total of Rs 123.80 crore so far.

On Tuesday, Thamma earned Rs 2 crore, slightly higher than Monday’s figures due to ticket discounts and weekday audience turnout. The extended first week saw the film earn Rs 108.4 crore, reflecting strong initial interest from audiences. The film ranked as the second-highest opener in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, trailing only Stree 2. It also became the biggest opener in Ayushmann Khurrana’s career, surpassing DreamGirl 2, which had opened at Rs 10.69 crore.

The film maintained double-digit collections until the sixth day, benefiting from positive word-of-mouth and festive holiday audiences. However, post-festive season, collections fell sharply, indicating a typical decline once the initial buzz faded. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh had earlier commented, "#Thamma remains super-steady… While the Friday working-day effect was visible during the daytime shows, business began picking up pace from the evening onwards… The South sector showed a solid jump yesterday."

Film critic Saibal Chatterjee, in his review, praised the performances of the lead pair: "The lead pair never loses grip over roles that require their prosthetic Dracula teeth to do as much of the talking as their eyes. Rashmika Mandanna, not surprisingly, wins hands down—and mouths. They do a fine job of flitting back and forth between bewilderment and omniscience."

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma stars Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana in lead roles, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in pivotal supporting roles. Produced by Dinesh Vijan, the film is connected to Maddock Films’ other horror-comedy entries, including Stree, Stree 2, Bhediya, and Munjya.

Despite its slowdown in the second week, Thamma remains a notable entry in the Maddock horror-comedy universe, celebrated for its performances and unique blend of comedy and horror.
