Tension Grows Between Israel and Iran, U.S. Responds

For nearly two weeks, Israel and Iran were locked in a serious and tense fight. Israel launched airstrikes on three major nuclear centers in Iran—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. They used strong bombs and claimed they had completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear program.

However, reports from the U.S. military suggest something different. The attacks only damaged some parts of the nuclear sites. Iran’s most important equipment, like underground facilities, uranium stock, and machines used for enrichment, were mostly safe. In fact, Iran had already moved some materials before the attack.

Later, a ceasefire was agreed upon. U.S. President Donald Trump helped arrange it. Both Israel and Iran agreed to stop fighting if the other side did the same. Although there have been a few small violations, the ceasefire has mostly worked. Now, both countries have started early talks to avoid more fighting.

Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, called the attack a “historic victory.” He warned that if Iran starts its nuclear activities again, Israel may strike once more. On the other side, Iran said it wants peace and insists that its nuclear work is only for peaceful reasons.

Even during the ceasefire, Iran launched missiles at a U.S. base in Qatar and sent drones into Iraq. Luckily, Qatar was able to stop all the missiles, and no one was injured.

Meanwhile, a new survey shows that more than half of Americans—about 56%—do not agree with President Trump’s choice to bomb Iran. Many people think he should have asked permission from Congress before acting.

Why This Is Important

  • Iran’s nuclear program is not fully stopped and could start again soon.

  • The delay caused by the attacks gives world leaders a chance to push for peace.

  • This could change future relations between Israel, Iran, and the U.S.

Although there is a pause in fighting, both sides are still being careful. The whole world is watching closely, hoping for a peaceful solution.
