Zayed National Museum Opens in Abu Dhabi on 3 December 2025

Abu Dhabi is set to welcome visitors to a landmark cultural destination as the Zayed National Museum opens its doors on 3 December 2025. Nestled in the heart of Saadiyat Cultural District, the museum offers a captivating journey through the history of the United Arab Emirates, blending heritage, innovation, and immersive storytelling.

Spanning ancient settlements to modern-day UAE, the museum showcases over 3,000 artifacts, with 1,500 on display. Visitors can explore the Our Beginning gallery, which highlights Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s life, leadership, and enduring legacy through personal items, letters, archive photographs, and multimedia installations.

The museum experience extends beyond history. In the Through Our Nature gallery, UAE’s diverse landscapes—desert, mountains, oases, and seas—are brought to life using dioramas, natural specimens, and interactive displays. To Our Ancestors delves into the region’s archaeological treasures, from ancient pearls to the Hili Grand Tomb, tracing 300,000 years of human presence.

Through Our Connections highlights the development of culture, language, and faith over centuries, while By Our Coasts tells the UAE’s maritime and trading story, featuring the journeys of navigators like Ibn Majid and the pearl divers of past centuries. Finally, To Our Roots reflects traditional Emirati life, customs, and economic practices, giving visitors a full perspective of the nation’s heritage.

The museum’s design by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Lord Norman Foster invites visitors to journey through the outdoor Al Masar Garden, stretching 600 meters from the Saadiyat coastline to the museum entrance. Native plants, artistic installations, and a working falaj irrigation system complement a timeline of Sheikh Zayed’s life and UAE history.

Alongside cultural exploration, the museum offers dining options such as the fine dining Emirati restaurant Erth, Al Ghaf Cafe, and the Garden Cafes, making the visit a complete experience. Positioned near global attractions like Louvre Abu Dhabi and the upcoming Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum reinforces Abu Dhabi’s growing stature as a global hub for culture, heritage, and innovation.
