Sharjah Press Club (SPC), a part of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), successfully concluded its Ramadan Majlis on Monday. The session focused on how values and strong family relationships help build better communities. Held in Aljada, the event brought together top officials, media professionals, and members of the public. Among the attendees were HE Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of SGMB, HE Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB, Marwa Al Aqroubi, Executive Director of the House of Wisdom, and Asma Al Juwaied, Manager of SPC.
Discussion on Family and Parenting
The highlight of the event was a discussion led by well-known Egyptian Islamic scholar Mostafa Hosny. He spoke about the topic, “Family and Raising Future Generations,” which was moderated by media expert Abdulraouf Amira.

Hosny emphasized that a strong family unit is key to shaping responsible individuals who contribute positively to society. He explained that raising children properly is not just about setting rules but also about being good role models. Parents, he said, must show values like respect, responsibility, and security in their daily lives so that children learn from their example.
He also highlighted the importance of creating a loving and supportive environment at home. Children, he explained, build their beliefs based on what they see in their parents. He encouraged parents to listen to their children, communicate openly, and provide a safe space for discussions. This, he said, helps children develop confidence, strong values, and a clear sense of identity.
Four Key Aspects of Upbringing
Hosny identified four main areas that influence a child’s upbringing:
Belief in oneself – Children should be encouraged to have confidence and self-worth.
Family values – A strong family structure gives children stability and emotional support.
Moral and religious beliefs – Teaching children ethical values helps them differentiate right from wrong.
Connection to their country – A sense of belonging to one’s nation fosters responsibility and civic awareness.
He also stressed that children’s social circles play a huge role in shaping their character. Choosing good friends and being in a positive environment can help children grow into responsible and kind individuals.
The Power of Tolerance and Self-Improvement
Another key message from the session was the importance of tolerance in human relationships. Hosny explained that people should focus on improving themselves first before trying to change others. He encouraged everyone to build relationships based on fairness, respect, and empathy, which will create a more understanding and peaceful society.
Special Session on Organic Farming
Apart from the main discussion, the event also included a session called “A Youth’s Perspective on Organic Farming.” This session featured Saeed Al Rumaithi, the youngest organic farm owner in the UAE.
Al Rumaithi spoke about how organic farming benefits both health and the environment. He explained how natural fertilizers and eco-friendly farming methods are better for people and the planet. He also shared his personal experience as a young farmer, discussing the challenges and opportunities that young people face in agriculture. He encouraged more youth to consider farming as a career and contribute to sustainable food production in the UAE.
Engaging Activities and Sponsorship
The event was sponsored by Sharjah National Hotels and included interactive activities and competitions for attendees, making it an engaging experience for all participants.
SPC’s Ramadan Majlis is an annual event that brings together experts, media professionals, and thought leaders. It serves as a platform for discussing important social issues and ideas that contribute to public knowledge and cultural development.
