Bucheon, South Korea – A devastating accident occurred on Thursday when a light truck crashed into a bustling market in Bucheon, located about 20 km west of Seoul, leaving two people dead and 18 others injured. Emergency officials and local authorities responded swiftly to the scene as shoppers and stall owners scrambled for safety.

According to initial reports, the truck traveled approximately 150 meters along a passageway lined with market stalls before finally coming to a stop. Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes of overturned goods, injured shoppers, and urgent attempts by bystanders and emergency personnel to assist the victims.

The injured were immediately transported to nearby hospitals, where medical teams are providing treatment for varying degrees of injuries. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, and authorities are continuing rescue and recovery operations.

Fire and police officials confirmed that the incident occurred in a heavily trafficked area of the market, which raised concerns about pedestrian safety and market infrastructure. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the crash, including whether driver error, mechanical failure, or other factors contributed to the tragedy.

Local officials have expressed condolences to the families of the victims and assured the public that safety protocols will be reviewed to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The tragic accident has cast a shadow over the normally vibrant Bucheon market, a hub of commerce and community activity in the region. Authorities have urged people to avoid the area while emergency and investigative operations continue.

This shocking incident highlights the growing concerns about traffic safety in busy market areas across South Korea, prompting renewed calls for stricter regulations and protective barriers in pedestrian-heavy zones.
