Sinner, Swiatek Advance at China Open 2025

Beijing, September 29, 2025: World No. 2 Jannik Sinner secured a third consecutive China Open semi-final on Monday, defeating Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, in one hour and 19 minutes. Sinner will face third seed Alex de Minaur in the semi-finals, maintaining his perfect 10-0 career record against the Australian.

“Generally I’m very happy with today’s performance,” said Sinner, the 24-year-old Italian. “Every match is different. Let’s see what’s coming.”

Sinner dominated the first set, while the second set saw Marozsan briefly take a 5-4 lead. Sinner then won the next three games, dropping only one point, to seal his place in the last four.

In the women’s draw, top seed Iga Swiatek advanced to the last 16 after Colombia’s Camila Osorio retired hurt following a 6-0 first-set loss. Swiatek will next face Emma Navarro from the United States.

Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk and Russia’s Mirra Andreeva also progressed, setting up a potential semi-final clash. Fourth seed Andreeva defeated Spain’s Jessica Bouzas 6-4, 6-1, while Kostyuk beat Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 6-2.
