Actor Shriya Saran is upset after discovering that someone has been impersonating her and contacting people on her behalf. Taking to social media, she urged the imposter to stop immediately: “Please stop writing to people and wasting time.”
On Wednesday, Shriya shared a screenshot of the phone number being used to deceive people, which also displayed her photo. She wrote, “Whoever this idiot is, please stop writing to people and wasting time! Unfortunately, this is weird. I feel bad for wasting people’s time.”
The Drishyam 2 actor warned everyone to stay cautious, revealing that the impersonator had even approached people she deeply admires. “This is not me! Not my number! On a lighter note, the only good thing is this crappy person is reaching out to people I admire and would love to work with! Very strange! Why would you waste your time doing this? Go get a life, not be someone’s impersonator,” she added.
Shriya also posted an Instagram Stories warning: “Scam alert… Fake. Getting calls from friends that someone is trying to impersonate me. Kindly stay away from this fake number for any communications or work bookings. Strictly no payments.”
Fans expressed concern in the comments, offering support and suggesting she report the number to cybercrime authorities. One fan wrote, “It must be so frustrating to see someone misuse your name and trouble people like this. You handled it with so much grace — no impersonator can ever come close to your warmth and dignity.” Others urged her to lodge a formal complaint to ensure the scam is stopped.
This year, Shriya appeared in a special role in the Tamil romantic action thriller Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, alongside Suriya and Pooja Hegde. She also starred in the Telugu fantasy action film Mirai, helmed by Karthik Gattamneni, featuring Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Jagapathi Babu, Ritika Nayak, and Jayaram in key roles.
Shriya is married to Andrei Koscheev, and the couple shares a daughter, Radha.
