Ranveer Singh Hails Sara Arjun as Bollywood’s Young Prodigy

The trailer of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar was launched in Mumbai on Tuesday, and Bollywood star Ranveer Singh took the opportunity to praise his 20-year-old co-star Sara Arjun, who is making her debut in Hindi cinema with the film. Known for her work as a child actor in Tamil cinema, Sara has already won acclaim for her performances in films such as Deiva Thirumagal and Saivam.

At the event, Ranveer Singh described Sara as a “child prodigy” and drew a comparison with Hollywood actor Dakota Fanning, saying, “Sara here is a prodigy, you just know some people are prodigies since childhood. Much like Dakota Fanning in Hollywood. Sara, I think it's a testament to you that you beat thousands of other candidates to land this part. It feels like she has done 50 films before this. So precocious as a person, as a performer. You are one of the finest actors that I have shared the screen with.”

Ranveer also acknowledged Sara’s previous work in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan films, noting, “You make me look better, and I have heartfelt gratitude for that. I can't believe it's your first film. Obviously, you've acted in Mani Ratnam's films as well, and this is when the world will see your potential.”

Sara Arjun first rose to fame in 2011 when she played Vikram’s daughter in the Tamil film Deiva Thirumagal. She gained further recognition for her performance in the 2014 film Saivam, produced by Vijay. In addition, she portrayed young Nandini, the character played by Aishwarya Rai, in Mani Ratnam’s period epic films.

Dhurandhar is written, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The film boasts an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. The music is composed by Shashwat Sachdev. Dhurandhar is scheduled to hit theaters on December 5.
