His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), met with a delegation from the State of Ohio, USA, led by His Excellency Blake Ethridge, Chairman of the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA). The meeting focused on enhancing collaboration between RTA and SORTA across various aspects of mass transport, including integrated mobility applications, real-time mobility systems, and autonomous transport.
During discussions, Al Tayer highlighted RTA's commitment to modern and sustainable transport systems and expanding mobility services. The delegation expressed keen interest in leveraging this collaboration to align with Dubai's and Ohio's aspirations of becoming global hubs for entrepreneurship and tourism.
The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between RTA and SORTA. This MoU aims to strengthen strategic partnership, enhance public transport services, and foster economic and social development in both regions. Signed by Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA's Public Transport Agency, and Darryl Healy, CEO and General Manager of SORTA, the agreement emphasizes joint efforts in enhancing performance, customer service, and communication channels.

Al Tayer emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership, citing Ohio's expertise in transportation systems and infrastructure development. He outlined plans for collaboration in transport technology, network design, and knowledge sharing in planning and designing bus facilities. The partnership will explore innovations such as electric and hydrogen buses, rapid transit systems, and bus priority lanes.
Ethridge expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting its potential to drive transit innovation and enhance both cities' public transport systems. He highlighted SORTA's achievements in ridership growth and infrastructure investment, underscoring the strategic alignment with RTA's vision for seamless and sustainable mobility.
The Ohio delegation was briefed on Dubai's intelligent traffic systems and visited key facilities including the Intelligent Traffic Systems Centre, Al Quoz Bus Depot, and Enterprise Command and Control Centre. These visits showcased RTA's advancements in mass transit safety and sustainability.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in global transit partnerships, promising mutual benefits through technological innovation and shared expertise in enhancing public transport services.
