Police in western Germany recently conducted a raid on a pizzeria linked to the covert sale of cocaine, which had gained notoriety for its drug-infused pizza. The operation came to light after food inspectors alerted authorities in March, prompting an extensive investigation that involved months of surveillance.
The pizzeria's manager was initially arrested at his home, where police discovered a substantial quantity of illegal substances, including 1.6 kilograms of cocaine, 400 grams of cannabis, and €268,000 in cash. Despite being released from custody after the initial arrest, the manager continued to run the pizzeria and sell the notorious drug-laced pizza, leading authorities to broaden their investigation into the establishment and its connections.

This expanded inquiry culminated in a coordinated series of raids involving around 150 officers, who targeted multiple locations associated with the drug operation. Among the locations raided were two cannabis plantations: one in Mönchengladbach, which housed 300 plants, and another in Solingen, where 60 plants were found. Several homes linked to suspected dealers were also searched, resulting in multiple arrests, including that of a 22-year-old believed to be the operation's ringleader.
During these raids, police confiscated not only illegal drugs but also firearms, large amounts of cash, and luxury watches. The pizzeria manager was ultimately rearrested while attempting to flee the country and is currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
According to police spokesperson Mr. Moltke, the pizza dubbed "number 40" became particularly popular among customers, although authorities have not released details regarding the identities of other individuals involved in the operation or the price of the drug-laced pizza. The investigation highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle drug rings operating in Germany, especially those that use everyday businesses as fronts for illegal activities.
