In Riyadh, the Red Palace, originally built in the 1940s for Crown Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz, is undergoing a transformation into an ultra-luxury hotel to offer guests a taste of Saudi royal life. Boutique Group, backed by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, is overseeing the conversion, aiming to preserve not just the physical spaces but also the lifestyle associated with the palace. Scheduled to open in 2025, the 365,000 square-foot palace will feature 70 rooms adorned with historical artifacts and art deco design elements.
Guests at the Red Palace will experience bespoke services that reflect Saudi royal traditions, including menus featuring the royal family’s favorite dishes and spa treatments using ancient healing rituals. The ambiance will be enhanced by scents of the native Taif rose, favored by King Saud. Mark De Cocinis, CEO of Boutique Group, emphasizes that the project aims to provide an unparalleled experience where every detail reflects royal luxury and historical authenticity.

This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia's broader strategy to diversify its economy through tourism, with plans to invest $800 billion over the next decade to attract global visitors. The Red Palace joins other luxury developments across the kingdom, positioning Riyadh as a cultural and heritage destination alongside its economic and political prominence.
Boutique Group's meticulous approach includes training local hospitality talent in collaboration with international partners like Sommet Education. The project not only aims to create a unique luxury experience but also to celebrate and preserve Saudi Arabia's rich cultural heritage for future generations of visitors.
The Red Palace's location in downtown Riyadh, near major landmarks and accessible by the city's new metro system, adds to its allure as a premier destination. It underscores Saudi Arabia's efforts to open up to global tourism while respecting its complex historical context, including nearby Deera Square, known for public executions in the past.
With plans to convert additional royal palaces into luxury resorts, Boutique Group is pioneering a new era of hospitality in Saudi Arabia, blending exclusivity with cultural immersion to redefine luxury travel in the region.
