Dubai’s maritime industry is charting record-breaking waters this year. The Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA), part of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, announced an exceptional rise in maritime permits issued up to the third quarter of 2025—over five times the total recorded during the same period last year.
The numbers underscore a sharp boost in investor confidence and highlight Dubai’s fast-evolving status as a global maritime powerhouse. According to official data, permits allowing vessels to engage in commercial maritime activities saw a dramatic fivefold increase compared to 2024. Towing operation permits for marine vessels and commercial ships also jumped by nearly 80%, signaling strong expansion across key operational sectors.

Industry insiders link this surge to Dubai’s sweeping maritime development strategy. Major projects—ranging from new waterfronts and artificial islands to eco-friendly infrastructure—are reshaping the city’s coastline and attracting significant global capital. The emirate’s focus on sustainability and innovation has turned its ports and marine zones into highly efficient, investor-friendly hubs.
Beyond infrastructure, the success also lies in Dubai’s consistent push for regulatory excellence. Every permit issued adheres to rigorous international safety and environmental standards, reinforcing the city’s commitment to secure, responsible, and sustainable marine growth.
The record-breaking momentum paints a clear picture: Dubai’s maritime vision is no longer just regional—it’s global. With a future anchored in innovation, safety, and sustainability, the emirate is steadily steering toward becoming one of the world’s most trusted maritime centers.
