Real Madrid beat Atletico in shootout to reach Champions League quarters

Antonio Rüdiger scored the last penalty to help Real Madrid win against Atletico Madrid and reach the Champions League quarter-finals. The match was full of excitement and ended with a 1-0 win for Atletico in regular time, thanks to an early goal from Conor Gallagher. Since the total score from both matches was 2-2, the game went into extra time and later to a penalty shootout. Real Madrid won the shootout 4-2.

Vinicius Jr. had a chance to win the match for Real Madrid in normal time, but he missed a penalty. Atletico Madrid also faced disappointment in the penalty shootout when Julian Alvarez's goal was ruled out. He slipped while taking his shot, and the ball touched his left foot before he kicked it with his right. Since a player cannot touch the ball twice in a penalty, the goal was not counted.

Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak made a great save to stop Lucas Vazquez’s penalty, keeping Atletico's hopes alive. However, Marcos Llorente's penalty hit the post and went into the net, putting Real Madrid in a strong position. In the end, Antonio Rüdiger stepped up and scored the final penalty to give Real Madrid the win. The team is now closer to their dream of winning a 16th Champions League title.
