The Phoenix Suns earned a 111-102 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday, extending their winning streak to three games. Dillon Brooks led the way with 25 points, including four of the team’s 14 successful three-pointers. Devin Booker added 24 points to the effort, helping the Suns secure their 10th win in 12 games this season.
Jordan Goodwin recorded his first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds in his first start, filling in for small forward Ryan Dunn, who had a sprained wrist. Mark Williams also contributed significantly with 14 points and 11 rebounds, making a strong impact on both ends of the court. Collin Gillespie added 15 points and six assists, providing crucial support off the bench during the third and fourth quarters.
For the Spurs, De’Aaron Fox scored 26 points while Devin Vassell added 17 points. Julian Champagnie recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. San Antonio’s three-game winning streak came to an end with this defeat. The Spurs had been playing well since Victor Wembanyama’s calf injury in a November 14 loss to Golden State, but Phoenix’s consistency proved too strong to overcome.
The game started competitively, with the Spurs holding an 11-point lead late in the first half. However, the Suns began to pull away in the third quarter. Booker scored 11 points and Williams contributed 10 points in a 37-point quarter that gave Phoenix an 86-80 lead. Early in the fourth quarter, Gillespie’s three-pointer extended the lead to 96-84. Brooks’ jumper with just over three minutes left made it 110-97, securing the win as the Spurs could not get closer than eight points.
Phoenix shot 44.3% from the field and made 14 of 38 three-point attempts. The Suns have now made at least 10 threes in every game this season and hit 14 threes in each of their last three games. This win also completed a season sweep over the Spurs, who had previously lost 130-118 to Phoenix earlier in the year, ending their season-opening five-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, the Spurs stayed competitive by making 17 free throws and holding a 50-43 rebounding advantage. Key moments included a strong start by Goodwin, who scored eight of the Suns’ first 29 points, and the Suns’ ability to counter the Spurs’ runs. Luke Kornet, Champagnie, and Jeremy Sochan executed successive dunks early, giving San Antonio a 45-34 lead. Vassell’s three-pointer later kept the Spurs ahead 62-52, but Phoenix responded with an 11-0 run to take control.
The game highlighted Phoenix’s balanced scoring and teamwork. Brooks, Booker, Williams, and Goodwin all played critical roles, demonstrating depth in the roster. The Suns’ ability to maintain a consistent lead and execute in the final quarter secured their victory over a resilient Spurs side.
This win continues the Suns’ impressive home and away performance and builds confidence as they aim to maintain a strong position in the Western Conference. Their combination of sharp shooting, defensive effort, and teamwork keeps them among the top contenders in the league this season.
