Petrobras Q3 Profit Rises Slightly, Boosts $2.25bn Dividend

Brazilian state-run oil giant Petrobras reported a mild increase in its third-quarter profit on Thursday, underscoring steady performance despite softer revenues and global price pressures.

The company posted a net profit of 32.7 billion reais ($6.05 billion) for the July–September quarter — a 0.5% rise from a year earlier. In dollar terms, profits grew by 2.7%, reflecting stable operations and currency gains.

Petrobras also announced a dividend payout of 12.2 billion reais ($2.25 billion), rewarding shareholders amid a volatile energy market.

While overall revenue slipped 1.3% to 127.9 billion reais, falling short of the 130 billion reais projected by analysts, stronger production volumes provided crucial support. The firm said it lifted oil output above 2.5 million barrels per day, achieving several operational records during the quarter.

Operating performance stayed resilient, with adjusted EBITDA rising 0.4% to 63.9 billion reais, surpassing expectations of 62.1 billion reais.

Capital investments reached $5.5 billion, marking a 23.7% increase from the same quarter last year, as Petrobras continues to expand upstream projects and upgrade refining capacity.

Despite headwinds in global oil prices, the company’s disciplined production and cost efficiency helped maintain profitability. The latest results signal Petrobras’ focus on balancing returns to shareholders while sustaining growth in Brazil’s energy sector.
