Paris Jackson, the 27-year-old singer and actress, recently opened up about her long battle with addiction and revealed a related health condition she continues to manage even years into sobriety. In a candid social media video, later shared on TikTok, Jackson discussed a perforated septum, a hole in the cartilage between her nostrils, which she said some fans may have noticed in her earlier videos.
Using her phone’s flashlight to highlight the hole, Jackson explained, “It is from what you think it’s from… don’t do drugs, kids.” While she added a light-hearted remark joking that she could pass a spaghetti noodle through the hole, Jackson was serious about the impact of drugs on her life, saying, “Drugs ruined my life.”
Jackson revealed that she has been almost six years sober and has lived with her perforated septum since she was 20. She noted that the condition has sometimes made recording music more challenging, but she has chosen not to undergo surgery to repair it because she does not want to risk the drugs involved with the procedure.
The singer’s remarks follow her recent acceptance of the Shining Star Award at the Friendly House Awards Luncheon, where she reflected on her journey to sobriety. “I’m really grateful to be a part of a movement that aligns so much with my higher purpose and the essence of my daily reprieve,” Jackson said. She added, “Getting someone to develop conscious contact has easily been the greatest action I’ve ever taken, and I pray that I can continue to help others.”
Paris Jackson is the only daughter of pop icon Michael Jackson. She is joined by her brothers Prince Michael Jackson, 28, and Bigi Jackson (formerly known as Blanket), 23, as the late King of Pop’s only children.
Jackson’s openness highlights the ongoing struggles with addiction and its long-term consequences, while also underscoring her commitment to sobriety and advocacy. By sharing her story, she aims to raise awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and inspire others to make healthier choices.
