Millionaire Banker Surrenders to Police After Alleged Assault on Woman in Brooklyn

New York: Jonathan Kaye, a millionaire banker accused of punching a woman in the face during a Brooklyn Pride event last month, turned himself in to police, as reported by ABC News. Kaye, 52, resigned from his position at Moelis & Co investment bank amid public outcry over the incident, initially being placed on leave.

Emerging from New York Police Department’s 78th Precinct on Monday, Kaye, dressed in a beige jacket and pants with a face mask, avoided media contact, according to The New York Post.

The incident, which occurred on June 8, saw Kaye allegedly assaulting a 38-year-old woman. Video footage circulated widely online showing Kaye striking the woman, who fell to the ground. She later filed a complaint, citing a broken nose, lacerations, and a black eye as a result of the attack.

In response, Kaye's attorney, Danya Perry, asserted that he acted in self-defense after being harassed by a group of protesters. Perry claimed the group doused Kaye with liquids, pushed him, and directed antisemitic slurs at him, which was not fully captured in the initial video footage.

"Despite what was shown in the released video clip, other evidence we provided to the District Attorney demonstrates that these individuals surrounded him, assaulted him, and verbally abused him," Perry stated.

According to the New York Police Department, Kaye faces charges including assault, menacing, and harassment over the incident, with further legal proceedings anticipated as evidence is reviewed by authorities.
