UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a high-level phone conversation with His Excellency António Costa, President of the European Council, to discuss the evolving security situation in the region.
During the call, both leaders reviewed the latest developments amid ongoing military escalation and its far-reaching implications for regional and global peace. They highlighted concerns over the growing impact on international maritime navigation and the global economy, stressing the urgency of maintaining stability.
A key focus of the discussion was the continued Iranian-backed aggression targeting the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the region. These attacks, which include strikes on civilians and critical infrastructure, were strongly condemned. António Costa emphasized that such actions violate national sovereignty and international law, while posing a serious threat to both regional and international security.
In addition to security concerns, the leaders also explored avenues to strengthen cooperation between the UAE and the European Union, along with its member states. They underscored the importance of expanding strategic partnerships in ways that promote shared interests and deliver mutual economic and political benefits.
The conversation reflects ongoing diplomatic efforts to address regional instability while reinforcing international collaboration and security frameworks.
