Tamil television actor Manya Anand recently spoke out about her unsettling experience in the film industry, accusing Dhanush’s manager, Sreyas, of attempting to exploit her through the casting couch. In a candid interview, Manya revealed that Sreyas contacted her regarding a new film project but quickly made an inappropriate suggestion.

According to Manya, Sreyas implied a quid pro quo by saying, “There is commitment (adjustment),” suggesting that she would have to offer something beyond professional work to be considered for the role. Manya firmly questioned him, asking, “What commitment? Why should I give commitment?” She made it clear that she would not comply with any such unethical demands.

Despite her rejection, Manya alleged that Sreyas persisted. He reportedly said, “You will not comply even if it’s Dhanush sir?” and continued to reach out to her multiple times. Manya also claimed that he sent her the location details of Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films, along with the script for the project. However, she stated she did not read the script and had no intention of working on the film.

Manya highlighted the broader issue, saying, “We’re artists. We are doing some other work. You take work from us but don’t expect something else in return. If we comply with your demands, then we’d be named something else. I think it’d be better if people recognised this pattern and sorted it out.”

Adding to the gravity of the situation, she revealed that another manager had approached her with a similar inappropriate request for the same project, suggesting a troubling pattern within the industry. She emphasised that performers should not be coerced or pressured into compromising situations under the guise of professional opportunities.

About Manya Anand
Manya Anand is best known for her work in Tamil television, particularly for her role in the popular series Vanathai Pola. She has used her platform to speak openly about misconduct in the industry, highlighting the challenges young actors, especially women, face while navigating career opportunities.
