Madhuri Dixit Returns as a Dark Serial Killer in Mrs Deshpande

Bollywood icon Madhuri Dixit is all set to make a powerful comeback on the small screen with the upcoming JioHotstar series ‘Mrs Deshpande’. She recently surprised fans by releasing a short but gripping teaser hinting at a twist “no one saw coming.”

In the 20-second teaser, Madhuri is seen removing her jewelry and makeup. The scene suddenly cuts to her in a prison uniform, wearing a mysterious, confident smile. This teaser reveals her bold new avatar as a fearsome serial killer, making it one of the darkest roles of her career.

Earlier, Madhuri created curiosity with a cryptic social media post featuring reworked lines from her iconic songs, including “Ek Do Teen Chaar Paanch Cheh Saath Aath” and “Bholi si surat, ankhon mein masti”, captioned simply as “Coming soon.” Fans immediately began speculating about a major announcement.

The series, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, is an official remake of the French thriller ‘La Mante’. The story revolves around a serial killer who agrees to help the police catch a copycat murderer—but only if she works exclusively with her estranged son. This leads to a tense, emotional, and psychologically complex partnership between mother and son.

Speaking about the role at the IIFA Awards earlier this year, Madhuri said:“There’s no conscious effort, but this role came my way, and I thought it’s something I would love to do. It explores a different part of me, and I’m looking forward to it.”

Although the release date for ‘Mrs Deshpande’ has not been announced yet, fans are eagerly waiting to see Madhuri Dixit in this new, thrilling, and dark avatar, which promises to be very different from her previous roles.
