Israeli Forces Intensify Military Pressure on Gaza Amid Fresh Ceasefire Efforts

The armed factions of Hamas and Islamic Jihad reported engaging Israeli forces in Tel Al-Hawa using anti-tank rockets and mortar fire, resulting in casualties. Meanwhile, Israeli military operations intensified in Gaza Strip, claiming the lives of at least 18 Palestinians on Tuesday, marking a significant escalation. Hamas condemned the offensive, warning it could derail ceasefire negotiations mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States aimed at ending the conflict and facilitating prisoner exchanges.

Israeli tanks advanced deeper into Gaza City neighborhoods like Shejaia, Sabra, and Tel Al-Hawa, where residents witnessed some of the fiercest clashes since the conflict began. Amid evacuation orders, thousands of Gaza City residents were forced to flee towards the coast or southwards.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh criticized the assault, suggesting it could set back peace efforts. The Israeli military, however, asserted its operations were based on intelligence pinpointing Hamas and Islamic Jihad presence, claiming to have neutralized numerous fighters and seized weapons.

Palestinian health officials reported casualties from Israeli airstrikes, including six deaths in Gaza City, and nine in strikes on houses in Al-Nuseirat and Deir Al-Balah. In Tel Al-Sultan, Rafah, three Palestinians were killed in another airstrike.

The conflict, ignited by Hamas-led attacks on southern Israel on October 7, has resulted in over 38,000 Palestinian casualties since the Israeli military's offensive began, according to Gaza health authorities.
