A celebration took place in Kathmandu, Nepal. Awad Al-Anzi, a high-ranking official from Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs, was there. Why? To honor the victors of Nepal's Second Holy Quran Memorization Competition.

Organized in part by the Saudi Embassy, the event drew a crowd, with over 750 eager competitors. The event wasn't just about competition, though. Important figures were there, too.
People like Saudi Ambassador to Nepal, Saad Nasser Abu Haimed, and Speaker of Nepal's House of Representatives, Dev Raj Ghimire, attended. Religious leaders, government officials from Nepal, and honored guests also added to the audience.
Some competitors recited Quran verses! Al-Anzi had something to say, too. In a speech, he praised Saudi Arabia's values — compassion, justice, mercy — the bedrock of Islam.
This competition wasn't just an event, but a way to promote Islamic principles. Al-Anzi rattled off other efforts by Saudi Arabia to disseminate the Quran's teachings, such as the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex.
This place in Madinah prints and shares free Quran copies — millions of them! Thanks were given to Saudi leaders for their support and to the Nepalese government for co-organizing the event.
Ambassador Abu Haimed was all praise, too. He applauded the competition, Saudi Arabia's work, and of course, the winners, commending their efforts and commitment. The event concluded in celebration with Al-Anzi presenting prizes and posing for a group photo with the triumphant competitors.
