New renders of the much-anticipated iPhone 17 Pro Max have surfaced, giving us a glimpse of what could be a major design change for Apple. The images, shared by Apple Insider, show a striking camera design that looks quite different from previous models. Instead of the usual layout, the iPhone 17 Pro Max appears to feature a wide, full-width camera bar across the back of the phone. This design is noticeably similar to the camera setup seen on Google's Pixel phones.

The render, created by designer Asher Dipprey and shared by leaker Jon Prosser, shows a more prominent camera bump that stretches across the phone's width. Prosser claims to have insider knowledge about this design. However, he also mentions that the render is more of an artist's impression rather than an exact copy of any leaked prototype.
Interestingly, this idea of a horizontal camera bar isn’t entirely new. Back in December 2024, rumors were suggesting that Apple might adopt this design for the iPhone 17 lineup. However, other sources, like the Weibo user known as "Instant Digital," later dismissed these claims, insisting that Apple would stick with its familiar triangular camera arrangement.
The reliability of these leaks remains uncertain. Jon Prosser has a mixed track record when it comes to predicting Apple’s designs. For instance, he once suggested that the Apple Watch would get flat edges, a change that never happened. Similarly, another leaker, Majin Bu, has shared unverified information in the past, which has raised doubts about the accuracy of these current reports.
As with most iPhone rumors, it’s wise to stay cautious. Apple has a history of keeping its designs secret until the official launch. The iPhone 17 series is expected to be announced in September, and until then, more leaks and speculations will likely continue to surface. But the true design will only be confirmed when Apple finally unveils the new devices later this year.
