India and Afghanistan are preparing to start air cargo services soon, a major step to strengthen trade between the two countries. The announcement was made on Friday during the visit of Afghanistan’s Trade Minister Nooruddin Azizi to New Delhi.

The new air cargo service aims to help Afghanistan access essential goods such as grains, medicines, and industrial products. This comes after the closure of Afghanistan’s border with Pakistan due to recent military clashes, which disrupted traditional trade routes. The initiative is part of wider efforts to improve economic ties between India and Afghanistan despite regional challenges.

During his visit, Minister Azizi requested India to open cargo hubs and improve trade connections, emphasizing the urgent need for reliable transport for Afghan businesses. Indian officials said the air cargo route would provide faster, safer, and more predictable options compared to existing land routes that have faced delays and restrictions.

The move also reflects both countries’ interest in reducing Afghanistan’s dependence on Pakistan for trade and enhancing regional connectivity. Indian authorities said the cargo service is part of a long-term plan to support Afghan trade and economic stability.

The air cargo initiative is expected to benefit businesses in both countries by allowing quicker delivery of essential goods and strengthening economic cooperation. Officials indicated that further talks will continue to ensure smooth operations and possible expansion of trade links in the near future.

This agreement marks a significant step in India-Afghanistan relations, focusing on practical economic solutions while navigating the complex regional situation.
