Cairo : In a significant step towards building stronger regional partnerships, INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions, a subsidiary of the UAE-based INDEX Holding, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British University in Egypt (BUE). The collaboration is designed to bridge academic knowledge with practical industry experience, especially in the fields of medical education, scientific research, and global event organization.
This partnership goes beyond a conventional academic agreement. It reflects INDEX’s broader vision of becoming a key regional player in driving progress and sharing expertise across the Arab world. The MoU was signed during a special visit by INDEX Holding’s delegation to Cairo and signals a shift in how education and industry, particularly the conferences and exhibitions sector, can work together. Rather than viewing events as one-time gatherings, this approach positions them as platforms that help shape the future.
Through this initiative, INDEX aims to replicate the UAE’s successful model of integrating education, innovation, and development across the wider region, with the goal of building sustainable education and healthcare ecosystems both locally and globally.
The MoU signing took place at the British University in Egypt and was attended by H.E. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani, Roving Ambassador for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM) for the GCC region and Chairman of INDEX Holding, and Dr. Tarek Abbas, Vice President of the British University in Egypt. Also present were Mr. Tareq AlMadani, CEO of INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions and INDEX Design, and Ms. Sara AlMadani, CEO of INDEX Media, along with distinguished professors from the university’s medical and pharmaceutical faculties.
The agreement outlines plans for cooperation in organizing conferences, exhibitions, and educational programs across health, medicine, and science. It also aims to promote continuing education and develop impactful initiatives that raise awareness and enhance healthcare quality across the Arab world and Africa.
H.E. Dr. Abdulsalam AlMadani spoke about the importance of the partnership, stating that the agreement opens doors to meaningful collaborations and highlights the UAE’s leadership in supporting education and healthcare at regional and international levels.
He said:
“We believe that healthy and sustainable communities are built through strong regional and global cooperation. Scientific advancement is the foundation for progress. This MoU marks a turning point—it connects academic knowledge with real-world application. Conferences will serve as engines of change, exhibitions as entry points for innovation, and education as a journey that continues beyond the classroom. Egypt—with its rich talent, creativity, and institutions—is a key partner in shaping a brighter future for the Arab world based on innovation, integration, and investment in knowledge.”
Dr. Tarek Abbas, Vice President for the Medical Sector at BUE, welcomed the partnership, calling it a major step toward expanding regional and global collaboration in medical education, training, and continuous professional development. He also emphasized the university’s strong ties with the Egyptian Dental Association and the Global Scientific Dental Alliance, led by H.E. Dr. AlMadani.
He noted that this ongoing partnership has helped reinforce BUE’s position in international academic and research excellence. The MoU, he said, is a milestone in their shared journey toward shaping a better future for the next generation.
Dr. Abbas also highlighted that BUE recently became the first university in Egypt and North Africa to receive accreditation from the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in 2024, as the institution celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Following the signing, Dr. Abbas took Dr. AlMadani and his delegation on a tour of the university’s Faculty and Hospital of Dentistry, led by Professor Dr. Ferdous Rizk, Acting Dean. The visit showcased the university’s modern medical and educational facilities and its commitment to creating an advanced environment for healthcare and learning.
Both INDEX and the British University in Egypt expressed excitement about launching joint initiatives under this partnership. These will include programs and projects that aim to improve quality of life and create long-lasting impact in Arab and African communities. They believe this collaboration serves as a strong model for how the region can lead in innovation and development in health and education.
Through this partnership, INDEX strengthens its role as more than just an event organizer. With a portfolio that includes DUPHAT, AEEDC Dubai, Dubai Derma, the Healthcare Future Summit, and the International Family Medicine Conference & Exhibition, among others, INDEX is building a comprehensive ecosystem that connects institutions with their audiences. These platforms serve as bridges between knowledge, generations, and cultures, working toward a more connected and forward-thinking future.
