In a harrowing incident in Manchester, a drug dealer's reckless escapade led to a dramatic showdown with law enforcement, culminating in his arrest at Manchester Airport. Neil Corrigan, aged 42, brazenly defied police orders to stop his van near Warrington, opting instead for a perilous high-speed pursuit along the M56 motorway.
The chase unfolded as Corrigan maneuvered his van through traffic with alarming agility, even resorting to driving against the flow of traffic on a roundabout. In a desperate attempt to rid himself of incriminating evidence, Corrigan flung a sizable black bag from his vehicle, scattering the road with a haul later identified as 2 kilograms of heroin, valued at a staggering £285,000 (approximately Rs 2,982,071).

The pursuit reached its climax at Manchester Airport, where Corrigan's reckless flight was halted by a collision with a parking barrier, bringing his vehicle to an abrupt stop. Undeterred, Corrigan attempted to flee on foot, only to be swiftly apprehended by a vigilant pursuing officer.
Corrigan subsequently pleaded guilty to a litany of charges, including drug offenses, dangerous driving, failure to stop, and driving without insurance. He received a stringent sentence of five years' imprisonment, coupled with a driving ban exceeding five years.
Law enforcement authorities commended the operation's success, emphasizing the significant dent made in illegal drug distribution networks. Chief Inspector John Forshaw underscored the danger posed by Corrigan's reckless driving, highlighting the absence of concern for public safety in his bid to evade capture. Despite the perilous circumstances, the pursuit was brought to a safe conclusion, ensuring accountability for Corrigan's actions.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the relentless efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related crime, safeguard communities, and uphold public safety.
