Lewis Hamilton expressed optimism ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix, hoping Ferrari can replicate last year’s strong performance. He believes lessons from the previous season could help the team regain form despite its ongoing challenges.

The Italian team has now endured a 23-race winless streak since Carlos Sainz’s victory at last year’s Mexican Grand Prix. Hamilton, who joined Ferrari in January, has yet to reach the podium this season, adding pressure for a turnaround.

Hamilton will miss the first practice session this weekend, with endurance racer Antonio Fuoco filling in to gain Formula One experience. Hamilton acknowledged that missing P1 means he will need to adapt quickly during the remaining sessions to perform effectively in the race.

Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc offered a more cautious perspective, stating that a victory seems unlikely without unusual circumstances. Leclerc highlighted that, compared to last year, the team appears further from the level needed to compete for a win under normal conditions.

Leclerc acknowledged that last year’s Mexican GP was a strong event for Ferrari, with Sainz performing exceptionally well throughout the weekend. He hopes the team can repeat a similar performance, but realistic expectations suggest a challenging race ahead.

Leclerc currently sits fifth in the drivers’ championship and has reached the podium six times this season. Hamilton is eager to secure a top result to boost both his personal standings and Ferrari’s momentum before the season concludes.

Both drivers recognize that Ferrari faces significant challenges this weekend. Hamilton remains focused on applying lessons from the past, while Leclerc stresses that normal race conditions make winning extremely difficult. Unforeseen events would likely be required for Ferrari to triumph.

Ferrari’s focus this weekend will be on maximizing performance in qualifying and the race despite limitations in practice and overall team form. The drivers aim to optimize car setup, strategy, and consistency to achieve the best possible result.

As the Mexican Grand Prix approaches, Hamilton remains hopeful while Leclerc tempers expectations. The team faces a critical test of performance, strategy, and resilience to try to end their winless streak and compete effectively against top rivals.
