In a surge of festive enthusiasm, a multitude of tourists is converging on the picturesque landscapes of Kashmir to celebrate the joyous occasions of Christmas and the New Year. The allure of the snow-covered wonders of Gulmarg and Pahalgam has triggered an unprecedented demand, with hotels in these iconic locations fully booked, eagerly awaiting the anticipated snowfall that adds to the enchantment of the winter wonderland.

Officials report a substantial influx of tourists, both from domestic and international origins, gravitating towards Kashmir's renowned destinations. The renowned ski resort of Gulmarg in the Baramulla district and Pahalgam in the Anantnag district are witnessing a surge in bookings, indicating a promising winter season. Tourism Secretary Syed Abid Rasheed Shah expresses optimism about the trajectory of numbers, envisioning a highly successful season, attributing the revival of tourism to the warm hospitality of the Kashmiri people and collaborative efforts from stakeholders.

Gulmarg, often hailed as the 'Switzerland of Asia,' sits gracefully at an altitude of 8000 ft. Its scenic beauty, nestled in the pristine Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas, and its status as a premier skiing destination contribute to its popularity among global travelers. The Gulmarg Gondola, one of the world's highest cable cars, offers panoramic views of snow-clad mountains, adding to the allure of adventure. The town not only captivates skiing enthusiasts but also offers trekking trails and boasts the highest golf course on Earth.

Pahalgam, synonymous with verdant landscapes, provides a serene retreat from urban bustle. The Betaab Valley, named after the Bollywood film Betaab shot there, showcases breathtaking views and attracts filmmakers. The Aru Valley and Chandanwari serve as gateways to the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage, contributing to Pahalgam's multifaceted charm. The town beckons travelers with opportunities for trekking, horse riding, and golfing, inviting them to immerse in the timeless beauty and warm hospitality of Kashmir.

To enhance the New Year experience, the tourism department has curated a series of activities for revelers, including musical evenings, firecracker shows, night skiing, and torch skiing. The positive outlook surrounding tourism in Jammu and Kashmir is emphasized by the tourism secretary, who highlights accolades and recognition for emerging destinations. The strategic focus on diversification, incorporating locales like Sonamarg, Doodhpatri, Bhaderwah, and Sanasar, aims to enrich livelihoods and elevate the overall tourism experience.

As Kashmir embraces the influx of celebratory tourists, the anticipation of a snow-kissed landscape sets the stage for an unforgettable holiday season. The convergence of diverse activities, natural wonders, and cultural richness reinforces Kashmir's position as a timeless destination, inviting travelers to create cherished memories amid the breathtaking beauty of the region.
