First Ever Export of G9 Bananas from Kalahandi to Dubai

Post by : Layla Badr

In a major achievement, G9 bananas from Kalampur in Kalahandi were exported to Dubai for the first time.

This was made possible by the Trilokeswar Farmer Producer Company (FPC), in partnership with the Department of Horticulture and the Palladium marketing agency. On Saturday, the marketing agency bought 12 tonnes of G9 bananas from local farmers who are members of the Trilokeswar FPC. These farmers include Smruti Ranjan Mund, Nilamani Lahajal, and Narayan Sahu.

The bananas were then shipped from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar to Dubai, making it the first time bananas from Kalahandi have been sent abroad.

The success of this export was possible due to the support from several organizations, including Trilokeswar FPC, Mahashakti Foundation, and NABARD. The farmer members of the FPC used modern farming methods to grow the bananas and improve their quality.

Trilokeswar FPC helped farmers by providing high-quality planting materials, organic fertilizers, training, and marketing support. This has led to better quality bananas and higher market prices.

With help from NABARD and the Government of India, Trilokeswar FPC has also set up a 150-acre banana farming cluster in Kalampur, which is now an example for other banana farmers in the region.

This project is expected to give farmers better access to markets, increase their income, and make Kalahandi a key place for exporting fruits.
