Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has announced a new partnership with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) aimed at enhancing environmental monitoring and conservation efforts across the emirate's coastal areas. The collaboration involves the creation of a secure electronic information-sharing system to collect, analyze, and share marine water quality data.

This initiative allows ADNOC to provide comprehensive and real-time data on marine water quality to EAD. The data will play a crucial role in monitoring environmental conditions, assessing the impact of human activities on coastal ecosystems, and responding swiftly to potential environmental threats. By facilitating collaboration and knowledge-sharing among stakeholders, the system promotes a unified approach to environmental protection and conservation.

Faisal Al Hammadi, Executive Director of EAD's Environmental Quality Sector, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to enhance the accuracy of marine water quality data. He emphasized the importance of data-driven decision-making in environmental protection, noting that timely access to reliable data will bolster efforts to safeguard marine ecosystems and public health.

The partnership underscores Abu Dhabi's commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. By leveraging advanced data-sharing capabilities, EAD and ADNOC aim to strengthen environmental policies, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate environmental risks effectively. The initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi's vision for sustainable growth while preserving natural resources and biodiversity.

Amir Gerges, Chief Health, Safety, and Environment Officer at ADNOC, affirmed the company's commitment to sustainability and biodiversity conservation. He highlighted the partnership's role in monitoring water quality parameters and assessing marine life health, informing robust environmental policies and emergency response strategies.

Central to this collaboration is EAD's Enviroportal, which facilitates secure and efficient data transmission between EAD and ADNOC. The portal serves as a comprehensive platform for accessing environmental data, including geology, flora, fauna, marine habitats, and protected zones within Abu Dhabi. This integrated approach underscores Abu Dhabi's proactive stance in environmental conservation and sustainability leadership on a global scale.
