Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s latest romantic drama, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, has emerged as a surprise success at the box office. Released during the Diwali festival, the film started on a strong note and has consistently maintained its collections, avoiding any major drop, which is often a challenge for mid-budget films.

In its first three days, the film earned ₹22.75 crore net domestically. On its fourth day, Friday, the film collected ₹5.5 crore, reflecting only an 8% dip from Thursday. This brings the total domestic collection in four days to ₹28.25 crore net. Considering the film’s modest production budget of ₹25 crore, this means Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has already recovered its investment and is poised to generate profit in the coming weekend.

Despite competing with Maddock Films’ Thamma, a horror-comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, the romantic drama has managed to punch above its weight. While Thamma was made on a higher budget and had a limited number of screens, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat outperformed expectations, showing strong audience support.

Directed by Milap Zaveri, the movie stars Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa in lead roles. The supporting cast includes Shaad Randhawa, Sachin Khedekar, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. The film’s plot revolves around a romantic journey marked by intense emotions and complex relationships, catering to audiences looking for a mix of drama and romance during the festive season.

The film has received mixed to negative reviews from critics, with some pointing out clichés in the storyline and melodramatic moments. Additionally, there has been criticism on social media regarding perceived misogyny and glorification of toxic masculinity. Despite these concerns, the audience response has been largely positive, which is reflected in its box office performance.

Given the ongoing positive word-of-mouth and the upcoming weekend holiday boost, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is expected to see further growth in collections. Analysts predict that the film could end its theatrical run with impressive profits, making it one of the few mid-budget Diwali successes of the year.

The film’s performance also highlights a trend where content-driven mid-budget films can outperform big-budget releases if the story connects with the audience, even in the face of mixed critical reception.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat demonstrates that strategic release timing, relatable storytelling, and lead actors’ popularity can significantly influence box office success, setting an example for upcoming filmmakers in the romantic drama genre.
