The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, His Excellency Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and Colonel Mubarak Saeed Al Ketbi, Director of the Organized Crime Department at Dubai Police. The MoU aims to establish open communication channels between the three organizations, allowing for quick responses to reports concerning the archaeological sector. Additionally, it promotes collaboration in sharing information, studies, and reports, while also emphasizing the need to build professional capabilities in archaeological inspection through training, skill development, and the integration of modern technology and digitization tools.
Muna Faisal Al Gurg, CEO of the Culture and Heritage Sector at Dubai Culture, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stressing the importance of collaborating with government entities to enhance the management and preservation of archaeological sites under the Authority’s mandate. She highlighted the crucial role these sites play in showcasing Dubai's history and the emirate’s potential to solidify its position on the global heritage map. “This MoU supports efforts to raise public awareness about the importance of protecting our archaeological assets, documenting excavation sites, and creating a shared database to aid in their preservation. It also reinforces our cultural responsibility in safeguarding Dubai’s tangible and intangible heritage,” she said.
Brigadier General Harib Mohammed Saeed Al Shamsi, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police, underscored Dubai Police’s commitment to fostering strong partnerships in line with the government’s vision for integrated action. He emphasized that this collaborative approach is essential for achieving strategic goals and preserving Dubai's cultural identity and heritage. “Through close cooperation with our partners, we strive to protect our national values and ensure that the rich historical legacy of Dubai is preserved for future generations,” Al Shamsi stated.
Mansoor Al Malik, Executive Director of the Policies and Legislation Division at Dubai Customs, also expressed enthusiasm for the partnership. He noted that this agreement marks a significant step in the joint mission to protect historical artifacts and manage sites of archaeological and cultural importance. “Our collaboration with Dubai Culture and Dubai Police strengthens our efforts in preserving valuable art pieces and historical artifacts, aligning with Dubai’s goal of becoming a leading cultural and tourism hub. Together, we will develop digital solutions, integrate systems, and implement specialized training programs to further protect and preserve these precious assets,” Al Malik said.
This partnership between Dubai Culture, Dubai Police, and Dubai Customs reinforces the emirate’s commitment to safeguarding its cultural heritage and ensuring that its historical and archaeological treasures continue to be protected and celebrated for future generations.
