Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy showcases Expand North Star 2025 benefits to 350 Canadian startups

The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, recently teamed up with the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) to hold a promotional roadshow in Canada. The goal was to highlight the benefits of participating in Expand North Star 2025, the world’s largest event for startups and investors. The chamber will host the event at Dubai Harbour from October 12 to 15, 2025.

Encouraging Canadian Startups to Expand in Dubai
The roadshow aimed to build on the success of the Canadian startups that took part in last year’s event. Interestingly, 67% of those startups have already set up their businesses in Dubai. They are now looking to use Dubai as a base to expand into local and regional markets, forming new partnerships to grow their operations.

To promote the upcoming edition, the chamber organised events in three major Canadian cities—Toronto, Mississauga, and Vancouver. These events brought together over 350 founders, investors, accelerators, and policymakers, creating a vibrant platform for networking and discussions. The focus was on showcasing Dubai’s rising position as a global hub for digital businesses and the numerous opportunities available for participants at Expand North Star.

Showcasing Dubai’s Business Potential
During the roadshow, the chamber presented Dubai as an ideal location for startups seeking growth. They highlighted how Dubai offers easy access to new markets, a strong business infrastructure, and supportive government initiatives. The roadshow also introduced services provided by the chamber to help Canadian entrepreneurs expand into Dubai’s digital economy, particularly in areas like advanced technology and innovation.

Exciting Pitch Competitions
One of the main highlights of the roadshow was the startup pitch competitions held in each of the three Canadian cities. A total of 31 innovative startups participated, showcasing their ideas and business models. Three companies stood out:

Dia Labs Canada
Recyclorobo.ai
These three startups, which specialise in artificial intelligence and healthcare technologies, won the competitions. Their victory earned them a fully funded spot at Expand North Star 2025, giving them a chance to present their businesses to a global audience. They will also compete in the semi-final stage of the Supernova Challenge, which will take place during the event.

Record-Breaking Results from 2024 Edition
Last year’s Expand North Star 2024 saw record participation, attracting over 1,800 startups and more than 1,200 investors from 100 countries, with assets exceeding US$ 1 trillion. The event also featured 65 unicorn companies with a combined market value of over US$ 400 billion. The huge turnout and the level of innovation displayed made it one of the most successful startup events globally.

A Global Campaign with Dubai at Its Core
Canada was the second stop in the chamber’s global roadshow campaign promoting Expand North Star 2025. The event is becoming a key global gathering for startups, investors, and entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses and explore new opportunities in Dubai.
