Dubai Municipality has proudly completed a major infrastructure project in Nad Al Sheba 3, building a new sewerage and rainwater drainage system worth AED 277 million. This development will greatly improve the living conditions for residents and prepare the area for future growth.
What was done in this project?
A 24-kilometer-long sewerage pipeline was built, including 11 kilometers of household connections. This means homes, villas, and residential plots in Nad Al Sheba 3 are now fully connected to Dubai’s main sewerage system.
The Municipality also installed a 31-kilometre rainwater drainage network using gravity-based pipelines. These pipes help rainwater flow naturally and reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rains.
To make the system stronger, an advanced pumping station was added. It can handle up to 4,000 liters of rainwater every second, ensuring smooth water movement during stormy weather.
Why is this important?
This project covers 340 hectares of land and includes 300 residential plots. It is part of Dubai’s bigger plan to build smart, sustainable, and modern infrastructure for all its neighborhoods. By upgrading the sewer and rainwater systems, the city is preparing to face future climate changes and ensuring better health, cleanliness, and comfort for its people.
Leadership Speaks
His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Khalifa, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said:
“This project reflects our vision to provide world-class infrastructure that supports Dubai’s growth and future. By using smart technologies and modern engineering, we are making Dubai ready for the next 100 years.”
He also shared that this development is part of two of Dubai’s biggest infrastructure programs:
Tasreef project – AED 30 billion investment to upgrade rainwater drainage across the city.
Sewerage upgrade program – AED 80 billion to improve all sewer networks in Dubai.
How will this help residents?
