Dubai Launches 2030 Blue & Green Spaces Roadmap

Dubai, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reviewed the 2030 Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap launched by Dubai Municipality during the World Governments Summit 2026. The initiative is part of Dubai’s strategic vision to create a balanced and sustainable urban ecosystem.

The roadmap features projects worth over AED 4 billion, aiming to make Dubai a global leader in sustainability while enhancing the quality of life for residents, visitors, and tourists. It integrates nature into city planning, focusing on parks, beaches, waterfronts, afforestation, agriculture, biodiversity, and advanced recycling systems.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai; Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, President of UAE National Olympic Committee; Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority; Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed; and H.E. Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs.

Key Initiatives:

• 1.5 million trees to be planted in 5 years

• 120 new parks covering nearly 3 million sq.m.

• 200 sports and recreational spaces

• 45 landscaping and beautification projects

• 15+ major beach and coastline developments, including 3 new beach destinations annually

• Public beach amenities to increase by 400%, beach capacity by 150%, and walking/cycling tracks by 285%

The roadmap positions nature as an active part of urban infrastructure, creating parks, beaches, and recreational spaces as core elements of city life. It aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Public Parks and Greenery Strategy, promoting healthier, more active lifestyles and stronger community engagement.

His Excellency Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the roadmap sets a global benchmark for sustainable urban development, offering a flexible, inclusive, and human-centric model that other cities can adopt. He emphasized that Dubai aims to grow in harmony with nature, providing the highest quality of life for current and future generations.

The initiative also supports the Sustainable Development Goals, strengthens climate resilience, and integrates public facilities into daily urban life, making Dubai an even more attractive, livable, and sustainable city.
