In a series of drone strikes on Kyiv, four individuals lost their lives and at least 19 were injured, according to local authorities. The assaults commenced just prior to midnight, inflicting considerable damage on residential areas and vital infrastructure in Ukraine's capital.
Among the victims was an emergency medical worker who had responded to help after two drones targeted a nearby apartment. Several team members sustained injuries in this event. The strikes hit various locations, including two apartment complexes on the Dnipro River's east bank, with one building experiencing total entrance destruction and another high-rise in the city center suffering substantial damage.
Critical services were impacted, with several districts reporting interruptions to their water supply. The drone strikes ignited fires throughout the area; one drone caused a blaze at a shopping center, while another fell close to a medical facility, raising significant concerns regarding safety measures. Officials confirmed that the fires were managed but caused considerable alarm among the local populace.
An air raid alert remained in effect for nearly five hours, prompting emergency services and military units to respond swiftly to control the situation and minimize damage. Rescue teams were dispatched to aid the injured and tackle the fires ignited by the drone attacks.
In total, 19 individuals were reported injured, with 14 requiring hospitalization. Authorities are focusing on the health and safety of residents as they evaluate the full scope of the destruction.
Additionally, in western Ukraine, another Russian strike targeted infrastructure in the Lviv region, intensifying concerns about ongoing hostilities across the nation.
These recent drone attacks underscore the persistent security threats facing Kyiv, as the city grapples with regular assaults on civilian areas and essential services. Ukrainian officials continue to stress the necessity of vigilance and readiness to safeguard the city and its residents.
