Global trade giant DP World is making a huge investment of $2.5 billion in 2025 to strengthen its logistics and transport infrastructure across the world. This move is not only about improving global trade routes but also about creating thousands of new jobs, especially in construction. With major projects underway in India, Britain, Ecuador, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the company is helping shape the future of trade while transforming the lives of people involved in these projects.
Currently, DP World directly employs more than 100,000 people worldwide, and with its latest projects, the company is adding almost 5,000 new construction jobs this year alone. These projects show how trade and infrastructure development can truly change communities, boost economies, and leave behind a long-lasting impact.

A Vision for Global Trade
DP World’s Group Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, shared his excitement about this major step. He said: “We are delighted that our investment is providing jobs for almost 5,000 people this year alone to help deliver major upgrades to the transport infrastructure of five different countries. Trade has the potential to transform people’s lives, and these new jobs show how this happens in reality. When the projects are complete, the construction workers will leave a legacy of world-class logistics infrastructure which will benefit customers, communities, and continents for the next 50 years.”
This statement highlights the company’s long-term vision. DP World is not only focused on present trade needs but also building infrastructure that will serve future generations.
Major Projects Around the World
DP World is focusing its $2.5 billion investment across several countries. Each of these projects plays a key role in improving logistics, transport, and connectivity.
1. India – The Key Growth Market
India is one of the fastest-growing economies, and DP World is making a significant investment here.
2,000 construction jobs are being created with the development of a new terminal at Tuna Tekra in north-west India.
Another 500 jobs will come from the expansion of rail and inland terminals across the country.
These projects will help strengthen India’s role in global trade, making transport of goods smoother and faster within the country and to other parts of the world.
2. Senegal – A Deep-Sea Port for the Future
In Ndayane, Senegal, DP World is building a brand-new deep-sea port. This project will not just benefit the country today but is expected to support its development for the rest of the century.
The project is already creating 600 jobs in construction.
Once completed, it will become a critical gateway for trade in West Africa.
3. Democratic Republic of Congo – First Deep-Sea Port
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), despite being rich in natural resources, has long faced challenges in connecting with global markets due to limited port infrastructure.
DP World is addressing this issue with its Port of Banana project, which is set to build the country’s first deep-sea port.
Around 500 new jobs are being created through this construction effort.
This development will be a major breakthrough for the almost landlocked country, helping it connect more effectively with international trade routes.
4. Britain – Expanding London Gateway
In the United Kingdom, DP World is focusing on its London Gateway project.
The expansion, which costs around $1 billion, includes building two new berths and a second rail terminal.
This will create 1,000 construction jobs.
By the end of the decade, London Gateway is expected to become Britain’s largest port, making it a vital hub for the country’s trade and economy.
5. Ecuador – Expansion of Posorja Port
In Ecuador, DP World is expanding its Posorja port.
This project is generating over 300 construction jobs through its contractors.
In addition, it is creating more than 100 new direct operational roles, which means more permanent jobs for people in the region.
This expansion will strengthen Ecuador’s position in South American trade and provide lasting opportunities for growth.
Lasting Impact on Jobs and Economies
While the current focus is on the creation of nearly 5,000 construction jobs, the impact of these projects will go much further. Once completed, these ports and terminals will support:
Thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the future.
Better transport connectivity for businesses and communities.
Stronger economic growth in each region.
DP World’s projects ensure that not only do people benefit from jobs today, but also entire nations gain from world-class infrastructure tomorrow.
DP World’s Global Presence
This is not the first time DP World has made such a large-scale impact. The company’s flagship Jebel Ali Free Zone in Dubai already directly employs 160,000 people, showing its significant role in supporting economies.
By expanding its network across Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America, DP World is creating a unique suite of assets and capabilities that help its customers stay competitive in today’s fast-changing and unpredictable trading world.
Trade That Transforms Lives
The scale of DP World’s projects in 2025 shows how trade is not just about moving goods from one place to another—it is about transforming lives. Every construction worker hired today is part of a bigger mission to build ports, railways, and terminals that will serve communities for decades.
By investing in these five countries, DP World is proving that trade can be a powerful tool for development. These projects leave behind more than just infrastructure; they create opportunities, open new markets, and ensure that people and businesses are connected across continents.
DP World’s $2.5 billion investment in 2025 is a powerful example of how global companies can make a difference in people’s lives. With almost 5,000 jobs being created this year alone, the projects in India, Senegal, the DRC, Britain, and Ecuador are setting the foundation for decades of trade and development.
As Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem said, these projects will leave a legacy of world-class logistics infrastructure, benefiting not just today’s workers but also future generations. Trade has always been a driver of growth, and DP World is making sure that it continues to transform lives across the globe.
