DP World has started a new project to help more kids learn and enjoy golf. This global company, known for moving goods and containers across the world, is now using some of its old shipping containers in a new and helpful way.
The new project is called “The Clubhouse.” These are not ordinary clubhouses — they are made from reused shipping containers and will be sent to different countries. Inside each Clubhouse, there will be golf equipment, storage space, and training tools based on what local communities need. The idea is to help children from underprivileged areas play golf and learn life skills through the sport.
This project follows the success of DP World's Second Life Container Initiative, where they collected and gave away 350,000 used golf balls to young players across the world.

The first Clubhouse was donated today in Cape Town, South Africa, in partnership with the Sally Little Golf Trust. This trust focuses on supporting and teaching young girls. They use golf not just as a sport, but as a way to teach values like honesty, respect, teamwork, focus, and self-discipline. They also help girls aim for better education in the future.
Daniel van Otterdijk, DP World’s Chief Communications Officer, said,
“At DP World, we always want to create chances for young people. This Clubhouse program shows how we can use our resources to help the next generation. Golf teaches many important values, and we are happy to bring it to children who may not have had the chance before. We’re proud to work with the Sally Little Golf Trust and support their amazing work with young women.”
DP World handles thousands of containers daily. Some of these containers are no longer used. Instead of throwing them away, DP World is giving them a second life by turning them into something meaningful.
Looking ahead, more Clubhouses will be set up during big golf events. This includes the DP World Tour and the upcoming Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in New York this September, where DP World is a main partner.
This project is more than just about golf — it’s about giving kids a safe place to grow, learn, and dream big.
